What is a dental emergency?
A dental emergency is any situation that requires prompt treatment from a dentist to resolve. Common dental emergencies include:
- Toothaches or other persistent tooth pain
- Knocked-out teeth
- Injuries to the gums, tongue and cheek
- Broken, chipped, cracked or fracture teeth
- Loose teeth
- Lost fillings or crowns
- Dental abscess or infection
If you have received a head or neck injury, a broken jaw, or another serious injury, or if your injury is life-threatening, we recommend that you call 911 or visit the nearest emergency room before contacting us, even if you may also need dental treatments.
