Our team will ask you a series of questions to determine how serious the damage is, including asking if you are in pain and bleeding. We will then give a few tips on managing your chipped tooth until you arrive at our office. These include:
- Rinse your mouth with warm saltwater to remove debris and surface blood. This will also reduce your risk of infection.
- Apply gauze or a cool rag over any bleeding. Light pressure may also help ease discomfort.
- You may want to purchase dental cement and use it to temporarily cover the tooth. This can be purchased at most drugstores and supermarkets. We would prefer to treat your tooth immediately, but if you are traveling or cannot find the time to come in, it could be a helpful temporary solution.
- Come in to our office for treatment as soon as possible. We will do our best to accommodate your schedule and restore your tooth as quickly as we can.
